Overview
The South H6 (2025) is a compact Android controller built around a full alphanumeric keypad and a 5-inch, 720 x 1280 capacitive touch screen. It runs Android 12 on a MediaTek octa-core processor with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, expandable by microSD up to 128 GB, which is enough for field software, background maps and large jobs.
Connectivity covers the usual field links: Bluetooth 4.1 to the GNSS receiver or total station, dual-band Wi-Fi, USB-C with OTG, and 4G LTE with two nano SIM slots for NTRIP corrections. NFC, a G-sensor, gyroscope and e-compass are built in, together with a 13.1 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and an internal GNSS module (GPS, GLONASS, BDS, Galileo, QZSS) for navigation and photo positions.
The 9200 mAh Li-ion battery is rated for up to 25 hours of operation and 240 hours of standby, and recharges in about 5 hours. At 520 g and 235 x 90 x 35 mm it fits a pole bracket or a jacket pocket, and the IP67 housing handles 1.5 m drops and temperatures from -30 °C to +65 °C.
When the H6 is not the right choice: if you want a larger screen for maps and CAD-style stakeout, or plan to control a robotic total station, the South H7 has a 7-inch 850-nit screen, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and an optional Zigbee module.
